Major fire breaks out at spinning mill
Ludhiana, July 16
A major fire broke out in a spinning mill on Tajpur Road here on Tuesday. The fire spread to the entire ground floor where the stock was lying. Huge amount of goods destroyed in the fire.
The exact cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained by fire officials. Even the factory owner was not aware of the reason that led to the incident. Fire Department sources, however, claimed that the factory had not adequate fire safety arrangements.
A huge stock of raw material and cotton was stored at the factory, which became the cause of the intense blaze. Sources said since the machinery was kept on the other side of the partition, the fire could not reach there and it remained safe.
As per information, the fire broke out around 10 am. After getting information, seven fire tenders were sent to the spot.
Assistant divisional fire officer Maninder Singh said the blaze was intense but the firefighters struggled hard and controlled the same in three hours. Around 30 fire tenders were used to douse the flames.
People in a large number had gathered outside the factory due to which fire personnel had a tough time controlling the crowd, which was creating a hindrance in the operation.
