Major fire at store on Satsang Road

Ludhiana, July 6

A major fire incident occurred at a bag store in the Civil Lines on Satsang Road here early this morning.

Though the exact cause of the fire was not ascertained so far, short-circuit was suspected to be the possible reason.

As per information, residents of the area after noticing the fire informed the fire control room. The fire had started from the ground floor and then spread further to the first floor of the store. After getting information, firemen reached the scene. Since the store was locked, fire personnel started the operation after some time. When the store owner came and tried to open the shutter, he failed to do so as it got jammed due to heat.

The fire-fighters then left with no option than to break the shutter. They took two hours to douse the flames.

Fire officials said fortunately the store was locked and there was nobody inside when the fire occurred due to which no injury or casualty reported.

The incident had also panicked owners of nearby shops.

Meanwhile, another fire incident reported at a hosiery unit in Bajwa Nagar on Friday night. Fire personnel had doused the flames after over two-hour-long struggle.
