City girl players made their presence felt as they added eight medals in Punjab team’s kitty and helped it secure the overall second position in the Junior National Kurash Championship in the Junior National Kurash Championship, held at Nurpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, recently.

Trainees of Ludhiana Coaching Centre at the multipurpose indoor hall, opposite Guru Nanak Stadium secured one gold, two silver and five bronze medals in different age and weight categories and enabled their side fetch the overall runners-up trophy.

Manvi won the gold in below 44kg weight category while Ridhima and Sania secured silver medals in below 40kg weight and 36kg weight sections, respectively. The bronze medal winners were Namarta (below 40kg), Dilpreet (U-17 below 57kg), Rajneet (U-20 below 57kg), Munni (below 63kg) and Shagun (below 70kg).

The winners were honoured in Ludhiana on their return from Nurpur. Kuldeep Chugh, District Sports Officer, lauded the players and their coaches Parveen Thakur and Deepika on bringing laurels to the city.
