Loan defaulter calls son after quarrel; firm owner run over
A man who came to settle a Rs 20,000 vehicle loan at an office of a recovery and collection agency after a minor argument with agency officials called his son. When the man’s son arrived with his aides, they allegedly attacked the two agency partners inside the office. Later, the alleged person’s son ran his Mahindra Thar over one of the agency partner, who suffered critical fractures on his legs and arms, apart from other body injuries.
Later, the police arrested two accused in the case — Harmandeep Singh of Ghumar Mandi and Gurpreet Singh of Jain Colony — while raids were on to nab the remaining accused namely Gurinder Singh, his son Balkaran Singh of Jainpur, Lovepreet Singh of Bhamian, Param Joshi and Prabhjot Singh.
Complainant Rahul said that he, along with his partner Vaneet Arora, ran a recovery and collection agency at Feroze Gandhi Market. “On November 20, accused Gurinder Singh, who was defaulting on Rs 20,000 loan taken from private bank for a scooter came to settle the amount at our office. Following some argument, Gurinder called his son Balkaran Singh, who along with his friends Harmandeep, Lovepreet Singh and Param Joshi came in a Thar (PB10HX-0032). They allegedly abused them and also attacked them inside their office.
Rahul added that as the matter escalated, he called the police control room and cops from Kochhar Market police post arrived and calmed down the accused and later the accused left the office. However, around 8.30 pm when his agency partner Vaneet Arora was walking towards his car to go home, Balkaran accompanied by his aides suddenly came there in his Thar and hit Vaneet with the alleged intention of killing him and literally ran over him, crushing him under the front tyres of the vehicle.
“My agency partner suffered serious injuries in the alleged murder attempt. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in critical condition. I demand from the police to nab all accused and send them behind the bars,” the complainant said.
Investigating officer SI Balvir Singh said that raids were on to nab the remaining accused in the case.
