Keshav, Parikshit, Tavish and Sahil emerge winners
Keshav Garg (U-8), Parikshit Rattan (U-11), Tavish Singh Rathore (U-14), and Sahil Dhamija (U-17) emerged winners in the 2nd VCA Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by the Vasudha Chess Academy at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, here on Sunday.
Participants from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh competed in the one-day competition. The first three position holders were given cash prizes, trophies, and mat chess sets, while those finishing in the fourth and fifth places received cash prizes and trophies. Nirvaan Gupta (U-8) received the youngest participant award.
Anuja Kaushal, principal of the host school, was the chief guest at the event. Vasudha Sharma, director of the chess academy, along with Vikas Sharma, former president of the Ludhiana District Chess Association and senior national arbiter, distributed the prizes.
Keshav Garg won the U-8 event, Ruhaan came second, Uddish Verma was adjudged third, while Anmol Puri bagged the fourth spot, followed by Trimaan Kaur Gill in the fifth position. Prikshit Rattan won in the U-11 category, Ayansh Thakur came second, folloed by Suhaas Sethi, Adiv, and Avleen Kaur in the third, fourth, and fifth poistions, respectively. Tavish Singh Rathore prevailed in the U-14 category, followed by Pranav Aggarwal, Advait Vashisht, Nitika Dabi, and Veer Inder Singh in the second, third, fourth and fifth spots, respectively. In the U-17 category Sahil Dhamija emerged winner, Vishnu Bajaj was second, Aryan Ahuja came third, Arnav Garg walked away with the fourth position, while Konark Banga was adjudged fifth.
