KCW, SCD Government College emerge basketball champions

Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Civil Lines, Ludhiana, retained the title in the girl’s section while SCD Government College, Ludhiana in the boys’ section, emerged the champions in the Panjab University Inter-College, Chandigarh Basketball Championship Division A, organised jointly by KCW and SCD Government College that concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Wednesday.

Khalsa College for Women stamped their superiority as they scripted victories in all their three league matches to retain the title that they won last year. They stitched up an authentic 68-32 win over Panjab University (PU) Campus, Chandigarh, and recorded another easy 45-25 win against Guru Nanak College, Narangwal. In the third and last match, KCW players edged out Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, 65-39 to make a clean sweep and laid their hands on the winners’ trophy.

Similarly, in the boys’ section, SCD Government College, Ludhiana, wrapped up all three matches to romp home. They beat Goswami Ganesh Dutta SD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, 96- 32, outperformed PU Campus, Chandigarh, 60-32 and outwitted Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh, 84-61 to remain undefeated and lifted the trophy.

PU Campus, Chandigarh, secured the second position while Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, finished third.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, gave away the prizes.
