Jayanna hogs limelight in district swimming championship
Ludhiana, July 6
Jayanna, representing the Swim Force unit, hogged limelight by securing four gold medals on the opening day of the Ludhiana District Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Swimming Championship being organised by the Ludhiana District Swimming Association (LDSA) at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) swimming pool here on Saturday. A total of 135 swimmers (85 boys and 50 girls) are taking part in different age group events in this two-day competition.
Today’s results include
- 200 m individual medley (men): Anmol Jindal (Swim Force) 1st, Aditya (Swim Force) 2nd and Vikram (PAU Club) 3rd
- 200 m individual medley (women): Kashish Rawat (Fin Flyers) 1st, Bhagya (Swim Force) 2nd and Anihska (PAU Club) 3rd
- 400 m freestyle (Boys-I): Ravinoor (Fin Flyers) 1st, Rohtash (PAU Club) 2nd and Japjot Singh (PAU Club) 3rd
- 400 m freestyle (Girls-I): Gunika (Ludhiana Club) 1st, Ojal Gupta (Fin Flyers) 2nd and Jasleen (Fin Flyers) 3rd
- 400 m freestyle (Girls-III): Aaradhya (Ludhiana Club) 1st, Vridhi (Ludhiana Club ) 2nd and Zeenat (AS, Khanna) 3rd
- 200 m back stroke (Boys-I): Vaibhav Kohli (Ludhiana Club) 1st and Kavish (Swim Force) 2nd
- 200 m back stroke (Girls-I): Jayanna (Swim Force) 1st and Jaisleen Kaur (Fin Flyers) 2nd
- 200 m back stroke (Boys-II): Samarth (PAU Club) 1st, Raunav Batra (Swim Force) 2nd and Naksh (AS, Khanna) 3rd
- 200 m back stroke (Girls-II): Meghna (PAU Club) 1st, Sarika (PAU Club) 2nd and Avneet (Swim Force) 3rd
- 200 m back stroke (Men): Varun Sharma, (AS Club) 1st, Vaibhav Kohli (Ludhiana Club) 2nd and Samarth (PAU Club) 3rd
- 200 m back stroke (Women): Jayanna (Swim Force) 1st and Meghna (PAU Club) 2nd
Jayanna fetched top honours in 200 m backstroke event in girls’ group I, 100m backstroke in women’s section, 200 m freestyle in girls’ group I and 100 m butterfly stroke event in the women’s category.
Earlier, Manoj Dhanda, secretary, Jewelers Association, Ludhiana, and Vishal Chaudhary, GST Commissioner (Intelligence), declared the championship open. They, along with Apinder Singh Grewal, former Mayor and president LDSA and its honorary general secretary, Balraj Sharma released balloons to mark the opening of the competition. National medalist and veteran swimmer Meera Sood was the guest of honour on this occasion.
