Tarun Jain Bawa, president, Bahadurke Textile Association, speaking on the occasion questioned authorities on the uitlisation of funds earmarked for the project. “If the funds were utilised as per requirement, why is the nullah still polluted? And why is the industry being served notices by the PPCB for releasing effluents in it?” he added. He said when these grants were announced, the industry had brought it to the notice of the authorities that a larger STP was required, but to no avail.

“No one paid attention, and now the funds have gone down the drain. The state government refuses to entertain our proposals. People’s money has been wasted. We are going to submit a memorandum to the DC, asking about the expenditure on the project. The PPCB is the most corrupt organisation, we will get our answers from the authorities. If they fail to provide answers to our queries, we will lock the offices of the officials,” rued Bawa.
