Ludhiana, August 23

Government Senior Secondary Smart School (GSSSS), PAU, and PAU Club emerged champions in the junior girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Handball Tournament which concluded at the PAU, here on Friday.

In the junior girls’ final, GSSSS, PAU, came out triumphant without any challenge from Amrit Indo Canadian School whom they drubbed 10-0, however, in the junior boys’ final, PAU Club players toiled hard to outperform their opponents, GSSSS, PAU, 15-13. In the match to decide the third place, in the girls’ section, BVM School Senior Secondary School, Kithclu Nagar, prevailed over DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, 2-0 and in the boys’ section, BVM Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, outwitted PAU Club 15-8 to finish as the second runners-up.

In the sub-junior boys’ category, GSSSS, PAU, and GHS, Jawaddi, secured the first and second position, respectively, while Amrit Indo Canadian School finished third.

GSSSS, PAU, girls romped home in the sub-junior section and GAD Academy finished at the second place while Spring Bell School had to content with the third position.

In the senior women’s section, PAU Club, PAU Campus and College of Agriculture Club secured the first, second and third position, respectively.

Gurpreet Kaur Purewal, Ludhiana ADCP Traffic, former captain of the Indian handball team and a recipient of Maharaja Ranjit Singh award gave away the prizes. Speaking on the occasion, she encouraged the players to pursue their passion with dedication.
