Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti and World Peace Centre Dr Lokesh addressed senior citizens on the occasion of International Senior Citizens Day at Heavenly Palace, Doraha, today.

“It is the duty of every individual to give due regard and consideration to the aged who need their help and assistance in the dusk of their lives. The government is committed to the cause of the senior citizens and is according them support by means of multiple welfare activities and programmes”, the Governor said. He also shared the Dream and Beauty Charitable Trust was doing praiseworthy social services with the aim of providing better life to senior citizens, orphan children and women.

Dr Lokesh said it was very important to take care of the senior citizens. “The younger generation is failing in its duty by ignoring the senior citizens. It is everyone’s duty to take care of their parents and elders, but in the present fast-paced lifestyle, the young generation is forgetting this duty,” he added. He praised the Chairman of the trust whom he said was fulfilling his duty by providing the comfort of home to 100 orphan children and 400 senior citizens in the state.

Founder and Chairman of Dream and Beauty Charitable Trust Anil Monga said the trust was engrossed in the service of humanity and worked towards the establishment of global peace and harmony, providing education and nourishment to the needy. “Food is provided under Brahmabhog programme, education through Margdarshan, medical care and medicines to the poor and needy through Karma Health Care, assistance to the senior citizens through Heavenly Palace, and shelter and care to the orphans through home for Heavenly Angels,” he added.

The Governor unveiled the poster of the World Peace Centre established by Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti under the guidance of Dr Lokesh. Board trustees Amrit Bhambri, Amrinder S Dhiman, Sean Monga, Anil Sighania, Rajesh Narula, Neeru Sital, Kyle Monga, Dr SS Johl, VK Mehta, Dr GS Wander, Joint General Manager Col Parminder Singh, Onkar Singh Pahwa, AGM Awareness Varinder Kumar, Ludhiana DC Jatinder Jorwal, Ludhiana SSP Ashwini Gotyal and Payal SDM Pardeep Bains were also present on the occasion.
