Earlier, business partner wrongly booked
ADCP Amandeep Singh Brar said initially, the police had suspected the role of the victim’s business partner and a case of kidnapping was registered against him and his aides but with the safe recovery of the victim, the police probe found that the business partner had no role in the kidnapping and after verifying facts, he could be absolved of the levied charges.
ADCP Amandeep Singh Brar in a statement issued stated that on November 21, four car-borne persons had kidnapped a trader from the Janakpuri market. They bundled the victim into their car and fled the scene. Initially, the police had suspected the role of victim’s business partner Rajinder Bhai and a case of kidnapping was registered against him and his aides but with the safe recovery of the victim, the police probe found that the business partner had no role in the kidnapping and after verifying facts, he could be absolved of the levied charges. The miscreants, who had kidnapped Patel, had a monetary dispute of Rs 21 lakh with the victim, due to which they abducted him. The suspects had taken him to Ghaziabad where they forced the victim to sign cheques for Rs 21 lakh. On Sunday, the suspects were intercepted near Sahnewal from where the police team arrested them.
“The suspects had given Rs 21 lakh to Patel for doing some business transactions to gain some tax benefits but the latter after taking money did not do their work, which angered the suspects. They had been asking him to return their money but when the man failed to do the same, the suspects kidnapped him and forced him to sign cheques,” Brar said.
The ADCP said they had tortured the trader at a hotel in Ghaziabad as they were forcing him to sign a cheque for the same amount, which the victim owed to them.
Sujit Patel, who is a native of Gujarat, started garment trading business in Ludhiana five months ago.
