Four of robbers’ gang nabbed, five mobiles, weapon seized
The Ludhiana police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and arrested four of its members. With the arrest of the suspects, the police solved five incidents of loot reported in the past.
The suspects have been identified as Amit Kumar, alias Micky, of Giaspura, Rohit Kumar, alias Bihari, of the Lohara road area, Rattan Chand Verma of Prem Nagar and Deepak Kumar of Lohara.
ADCP Dev Singh, ACP Harjinder Singh and Sahnewal SHO inspector Jagdev Singh issued a statement in this regard.
The police officials said on November 15, Vipan Kumar, a resident of Bihari chowk, was targeted by two bike-borne miscreants. The suspects while pointing sharp weapons at the victim told him to handover his mobile phone else he will kill him. The next day, the Sahnewal police registered a case against the unidentified suspects.
As the police started investigation, four suspects, including the two who looted mobile from Vipan, were identified and after conducting raids at their suspected whereabouts, the robbers were arrested. The police recovered five mobiles, one sharp weapon and two motorcycles from the suspects.
The officials said the gang members admitted their involvement in five loot cases in which they had targeted residents in Dugri, Daba and other areas. Now, police remand of the suspects would be sought from court so that in further interrogation, more members of the gang, if any, could be arrested and more recovery of looted valuables be made.
