Complications include intolerance to several foods, vitamin and mineral deficiency, weight loss, development of piles, etc. Many people with moderate to severe IBS report poor quality of life,” said Dr Dinesh Gupta, senior consultant and head, department of gastroenterology, hepatology and advanced endoscopy, Deepak Hospital.

Dr Gupta said cases of both fatty liver and non-fatty liver diseases had increased over the years. One should follow simple steps to take care of their liver. “Avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, keeping body weight under control, exercising regularly, eating healthy, consuming fresh fruits and vegetables and trying to remain stress-free are some points to keep in mind for a healthy liver. One should see a liver specialist if they have any risk factor or symptoms of liver disease,” he said. — TNS
