Farmers, trade unions to hold dharna on Nov 26

A meeting of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) was held here today under the chairmanship of Raminder Singh Patiala. Trade unions and the SKM would be holding dharnas at the district headquarters on November 26. A roadmap for the dharna was chalked at the meeting today. The anniversary of the year-long struggle of farmers against the three farm laws would be observed by holding dharnas on November 26.
The main demands of farmers include a legal guarantee for the MSP of their produce, withdrawal of police cases registered against them during earlier protests, pensions for farmers and farm labourers, debt waivers and no hike in electricity tariff, said Patiala.
Besides, their other demands include complete loan waiver, stopping privatisation of power sector, discontinuation of the installation of prepaid electricity meters and subsidy on agriculture inputs, he said.
