A meeting of Bharatiya Kissan Union (BKU)-Kadian was held here on Sunday. During the meeting, members od the BKU demanded that as per the orders of the Supreme Court in 2019, teh government should give Rs 2,500 per acre bonus for not burning paddy straw.
“Instead of giving bonus, the government has started registering cases against the farmers. All the cases registered against the farmers should be taken back,” said members of the BKU (Kadian).
Veerpal Singh Dhillon further added that many farmers who had directly sown their wheat crop without burning stubble had to sow again their wheat crop after insect attack. All such farmers should be given compensation of Rs 5,000 per acre.
