Union’s district president Charan Singh Noorpara said that that in 2020-2021, farmers protested against the farm laws and to have guaranteed Minimum Support Price. They lifted the dharna after they were assured of their demands being accepted but no concrete step was taken thereafter. In addition to this, their other demands include complete loan waiver of farmers, stop privatisation of the power sector, discontinue installation of prepaid electricity meters and subsidy on agriculture inputs should be started again.

“Farm workers above the age of 60 years should be given pension of Rs 10,000 per month and a memorial should be made in the memory of 736 farmers who lost their lives during Kissan Andolan,” he said.
