A week-long ‘International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Regenerative Design - Transcending Sustainability’ was held at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana, on Friday.

It was held by the Department of Civil Engineering and the GNDEC School of Architecture in partnership in Blue Planet, Kolkata.

Dr Jagbir Singh, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, said technical sessions would cover circular design thinking, bio-climatic design, living systems and regenerative thinking, and sustainable development strategies for Punjab, among others.

The FDP was officially inaugurated by Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal. Dr Sehijpal Singh, Principal GNDEC; Inderpal Singh, Director, NSET; Sangita Kapoor, Director of Blue Planet, Kolkata; Naval Kishore, Senior Town Planner; Shilpa Sinha, Zonal Manager, Punjab & Sind Bank; and Sanjay Goel, Principal Architect at Designex, Ludhiana; along with GNDEC’s HoDs and Deans were also present.

In the inaugural speech, Jorwal stressed upon the need to provide availability, accessibility, and affordability of public projects being designed by technocrats. Naval Kishore shared insights into the current state of city planning.
