Guru Ram Dass Academy recently launched its two-day exhibition, ‘Aalam-e-Nanak’, at the picturesque Lakeview Lawns on the academy campus. The event, steeped in reverence and celebration, paid tribute to Guru Nanak Dev’s life, teachings and spiritual legacy.

Visitors were transported into the world of Guru Nanak Dev through a meticulously curated narrative that traced his journey. The exhibition captured pivotal moments, from his divine enlightenment at the Vaeen River to his historic travels to sacred sites such as Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the ghats of Haridwar, the mystical Aarti at Jagannath Puri and his visit to Mecca. Each significant milestone in his life was brought to life in vivid detail.

The exhibition concluded with an evocative portrayal of Guru Nanak’s establishment of Kartarpur, his teachings of ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako’, and the passing of Guruship to Bhai Lehna, culminating in his ultimate union with the Divine (‘Jyot Jot Samauna’). The artfully crafted tableaux were further brought to life by student guides, whose eloquent narratives captivated attendees with their deep knowledge.

A wealth of historical and cultural artefacts enriched the experience, including 2,600-year-old coins, ancient weapons, handwritten scriptures and sacred relics. These rare pieces, alongside live performances of traditional Sikh instruments such as the rebab, saranda and tanpura, created an immersive, almost transcendent atmosphere.

The exhibition also featured a series of paintings by renowned artist Savi, inspired by Guru Nanak, as well as live Gurbani calligraphy by Devinder Nagi, adding an artistic dimension to the event. To further enhance the cultural experience, an ancient Bazaar of Kashi was recreated, evoking a vibrant and rustic milieu, while traditional cuisines delighted the senses.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Director Gurshminder Singh Jagpal shared, “Aalam-e-Nanak was envisioned as an experiential journey into the divine legacy of Guru Nanak Dev. Our goal was to create an environment where visitors could walk through history, witness the grandeur of our heritage and connect deeply with the Guru’s teachings of truth, love and righteousness. This exhibition was more than just a display — it was a spiritual voyage that inspired introspection and transformation.”
