Drunk man kills vendor for refusing to give free bananas
An incident of a fruit vendor being beaten to death has come to light at Bija village of Khanna in Ludhiana district. A person, who was allegedly drunk, did not pay for bananas after purchasing them. Following which a dispute arose between him and the victim. Following which, the suspect called his son and his friends and got the vendor beaten up. The vendor lost his life in the incident.
The 50-year-old victim was identified as Tejinder Kumar Bobby.
Chandeshwar Kumar, who works at the deceased’s shop, said on Friday night when the owner was not present, a person from the village came to the vend. When he did not pay after buying bananas, he asked for money. In reply, the suspect caught him by his neck. Afterwards, the latter called the vend owner, Tejinder. The suspect also called his son and his companions. As soon as the accused’s son arrived, he punched the shop owner in the head and badly beaten him up. The vendor fell on the ground. When the victim was taken to a Civil Hospital, doctors declared him dead.
After getting information, Khanna DSP Amritpal Singh Bhati reached the scene along with Sadar SHO Sukhwinderpal Singh. He also checked CCTV camera footage. Then he came to the Civil Hospital and talked to victim’s family members. As per the CCTV footage, it was found that Tejinder crossed the road during the fight and then fell on the ground. Later, he was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
