Drug smuggler’s property worth Rs 1.40 crore seized
The Ludhiana police today attached property worth Rs 1.40 crore of a drug smuggler. The suspect was arrested by the Daresi police in 2019 in a drug case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Davinder Chaudhari, along with the police team, pasted property attachment notice on the property of the suspect.
In a statement issued, the ACP said Aniket, alias Ankit Batra, a resident of Balmiki Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, had acquired a residential-cum-commercial property in Balmiki Nagar with the proceeds of drug money. After verifying the property, orders to attach the same was procured from the authorities concerned. On Saturday, a property attachment notice was also put up on it.
Meanwhile, the police have already sent a list of properties of several other smugglers to the competent authority to seek approval of attachment. In the past few months, the Ludhiana police have attached drug smugglers’ properties worth crores of rupees.
