The 44th district-level games for the students of primary classes were held with the cooperation of the Kubba village gram panchayat, Doraha block.

Jagtar Singh Dyalpura, the chief guest on the occasion, cut the ribbon on the second day of games. He motivated the winners and appreciated the Education Department for holding the games successfully.

Around 1,000 students from 19 blocks took part in these games enthusiastically. The District Education Officer Elementary Ravinder Kaur said these were the future players of the country and there was need to show them the right direction to excel. She thanked the residents who had contributed generously to make the event successful. She added the three days’ sports extravaganza would conclude tomorrow.

Deputy DEO Manoj Kumar said competitions in sports such as kabaddi, athletics, khokho, ripe pulling, long jump, short put, etc, were organised for the students.

Day two’s winners

Ludhiana 1, Mangat 2, and Sidhwan Bet 2 took the top three spots in the 600m girls event.

Sudhar, Ludhiana 1 and Mangat 2 secured places in the 400m girls category. Jagraon, Raikot, and Sidhwan Bet 2 were the top three finishers in the 100m girls event.

Sudhar, Jagraon and Sidhwan Bet 2 took the places in 200m. Raikot took the lead in girls’ relay, with Mangat 2 and Ludhiana 1 finishing second and third, respectively. Ludhiana 1 excelled in chess girls, followed closely by Mangat 1 and Sidhwan Bet 2.
