Cops raid factory, seize fake branded clothes, tags
In a crackdown on fake branded goods, the Ludhiana police raided a factory in the Industrial Area-A here yesterday.
During the raid, the police seized over 5,000 fake branded T-shirts and hang tags with the names of international brands such as Zara, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger and US Polo Assn.
The raid was conducted following a complaint lodged by Harminder Singh, area manager of Mediasoft Legal Solutions Services, who represents these global brands in India.
The factory, being run in the name of Vinod Fabricators, was found to be involved in large-scale production and distribution of counterfeit “first-copy” T-shirts, which were being supplied to markets in Ludhiana and Delhi.
The police also arrested Hari Lal, manager of Vinod Fabricators, who was in-charge of overseeing the production of fake goods. The counterfeit items aimed at deceiving customers by mimicking the quality and appearance of genuine products.
Harminder said: “We appreciate the prompt response by the Ludhiana police in tackling this issue”.
