Congress workers up in arms over ‘poor’ law and order in Punjab 

Activists of the Congress and allied outfits organised dharnas and rallies in front of the subdivision-level police offices to protest the alleged poor law and order situation in Punjab.

Condemning the alleged inefficient functioning of the Punjab Government, protesters urged the Governor to immediately dismiss it and hand over the responsibility of maintaining law and order to central agencies. 

Congress block president Deepak Sharma said office-bearers and activists of various units led by district president Jaspal Dass had organised dharnas in front of all three offices of the DSPs in the district. 

“Having received a call from party president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, we coordinated with office-bearers and activists of various wings. They gathered in large numbers in front of the DSP offices to join the protest,” said Sharma. 

District party president Jaspal Dass claimed the Mann government had failed to keep any of the promises made to the voters during the last Assembly elections.

Former MLA Jasvir Singh Jassi Khangura, Prabhdeep Singh Narangwal, Vikas Tandon, Jarnail Singh,  Rakesh Shahi, Gurjot Dhindsa and Amar Singh (all office-bearers of different wings of the Congress), and Indian National Trade Union Congress president Parmeshawar Pal led protesters at various places.
