CM reiterates commitment to make youth active partner in socio-economic growth
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday said the state government was making untiring efforts for making youth an active partner in socio-economic growth of the state.
Mann while addressing the gathering during the Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival at the PAU said these youngsters possess inherent qualities to excel in every field and their capabilities must be utilised in a proper manner.
He said youngsters were like planes and the state government would provide them a launchpad to go ahead in life. Mann unequivocally said he won’t rest till the students of Punjab achieve their desired goals.
The Chief Minister asserted that every effort was being made to give wings to ideas of the youth and no stone was being left unturned for the noble cause. Mann made a fervent appeal to youth to make all-out efforts for carving an identity of their own to make a place in society, adding that sky is the limit for them. He urged them not to feel proud of their victory but stay humble and work hard for more success.
Recalling his college days, he said youth festivals act as a platform for grooming the overall personality of the youth. He said these had helped him to excel in life as an artiste and now, a politician.
The Chief Minister said the youth must use such platforms for their comprehensive growth and development. He said he performed in various youth festivals and won trophies for his college, adding that winning was his only passion and he always had a positive mindset of winning.
Mann said his father was a science teacher and wanted him to excel in academics. However, he was passionate about art and culture, which ultimately led to his stupendous success in this field.
The Chief Minister said his predecessors never attended such events as they were not bothered about the welfare of the youth. However, he said his government was giving top priority for the holistic development of youngsters, for which he was attending such programmes without any miss.
Meanwhile, on the demand of the students, the Chief Minister, accompanied by his college mate and artiste Karamjit Anmol, mesmerised the audience by reciting a poem ‘Maghda Rahin Ve Surja Kammian De Vehre’, penned by noted Punjabi poet Sant Ram Udasi, on the stage.
Mann, who recited the poem for two minutes, in a first-of-its-kind act, kept the audience spellbound with his enthralling performance. Meanwhile, the students, teachers and others present on the occasion gave a huge round of applause to him for his performance.
