Children day was celebrated with much fervour at St Xavier's Playway School in Ludhiana on Wednesday. The tiny tots came dressed as renowned characters for the occasion and took part in many events. A kid carnival was also held for students, who enjoyed various games. The director and school principal told the young schoolchildren about the day's importance.

BCM College of Education

The Red Ribbon Club of BCM College of Education organised poster-making and slogan-writing events on the theme, "Drug abuse, AIDS awareness and blood donation', in order to sensitise the future teachers. Dr Prem Kumar, Secretary, BCM College Managing Committee, motivated the students to wholeheartedly participate in all co-curricular activities to make their course duration an enriching and joyous learning experience. Principal Dr Monika Dua congratulated the Red Ribbon Club in-charges Dr Suprerna Khanna and Kanwalpreet Kaur.

Shamrock Christian Sr Sec School

A Class VII student of Shamrock Christian Senior Secondary School, Rhythm Sharma, has bagged the third position in gymnastics in the state-level tournament, Kheda Vatan Punjab Diya, which was recently held at Patiala. Principal P Singh acknowledged his efforts and congratulated Sharma for getting the fruitful result.

Malwa College of Edu for Women

Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana, organised a workshop on paper craft. Vishamber Rai, orgami expert from Rajasthan, acted as the resourceperson for the occasion. During the workshop, students learnt the skills of paper-cutting and crafting. Principal Dr Satwant Kaur appreciated the students’ efforts.

Drishti Dr RC Jain Public School

The much-anticipated two-day athletic event unfolded amid great enthusiasm Wednesday at Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School. Dr NK Aggarwal, an orthopaedic surgeon was the chief guest and IAS Kritika Goyal was the guest of honour. They were accorded Guard of Honor on their arrival by the NCC cadets of the school. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the school flag by the chief guest and the guest of honour. Subsequently, a parade entered the arena. It was led by the “Mascot Buzzley — the bee renowned for its work ethics, agility and team spirit”. It was closely followed by the “real Buzzleys” — the students of the inclusive wing, sports achievers, participants of four houses, and the NCC Cadets.

Police DAV Public School

Police DAV Public School celebrated Pulkit Dhawan's remarkable journey in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Naval Wing. It is the first school in the city to be associated with the NCC Naval Wing. Pulkit’s dream of marching in the NCC uniform became a reality in 2023, when he joined the NCC Naval Wing. School staff said Pulkit expertly balanced academics and NCC commitments, attending his first camp at Desh Bhagat University in June, accompanied and guided by ANO Gurdeep Singh Gosal. Captain Harjeet Singh Deol, CO 1 Punjab Naval Unit, Naya Nangal, acknowledged Pulkit’s potential, predicting outstanding performances. Pulkit stood out among the five individuals from the school who were selected for the prestigious Republic Day camp.

DAV School, Pakhowal Road

Staff and students at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, commemorated the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji on the campus on Wednesday with utmost reverence. Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar also paid obeisance to the holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib. The gathering recited the "Gurubani" and organised kirtan.

Nankana School, Gill Park

Girls of the under-14 volleyball team and under-17 shooting team from Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, succeeded in clinching the first position in the volleyball and shooting events at the Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, held at Amargarh in Malerkotla.
