Campus notes: Hindi Declamation Contest held
Spring Dale public School
Ludhiana: Spring Dale Public School had the privilege of hosting the LSSC Hindi Declamation Contest, with enthusiastic participation from 31 teams representing various schools. The event was organised in two categories: Category A for classes IX and X, and Category B for Classes XI and XII, providing a platform for students to showcase their oratorical skills and demonstrate their knowledge of the given topics. As the host institution, Spring Dale Public School participated but did not compete. A panel of experts, including Dr Balwinder Singh, Dr Sondeep, Dr Saurabh Kumar and Reetu Garg, was invited to assess the performances. After much deliberation, the judges were able to reach a decision, as the competition was extremely intense. The names of the winners are listed below:
Category A: First Prize: Malvika Mishra, Drishti Dr. R.C. Jain Innovative Public School (Narangwal). Second prize: Aahana Pant, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School (BRS Nagar). Third prize: Pranjal Mittal, DAV Public School (BRS Nagar). Consolation prize: Saanvi, BVM Senior Secondary School (Kichlu Nagar). Category B: First Prize — Pranjali Mishra, DAV Public School (BRS Nagar). Second prize- Gurveer Singh Sandhu, Nankana Sahib Public School (Gill Road). Third prize- Rohit Kalia, BVM Senior Secondary School (Sector 39, Chandigarh Road). Consolation prize- Anhad Kaur, Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School (Narangwal).
DAV public school
DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised a blood donation camp by paying tribute to Mahatma Anand Swami ji on his death anniversary on October 23. The camp was a noble initiative by Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar (president, Arya Yuva Samaj Punjab) that was a humble pursuit to promote community service and social responsibility among students, parents and associates. The event was successfully managed by the school Arya Yuva Samaj unit in association with an elite team of doctors and pathologists from Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana. The camp ensured safe and hygienic donation procedures. As many as 147 healthy donors, including parents, school staff, associates and well-wishers enthusiastically participated in this humane cause, donating life-saving units of blood. Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response. She stated that the camp reinforced commitment to serve humanity and aligned with the school’s values of compassion and social responsibility.
Sri Aurobindo college
Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management hosted an engaging session on ‘Science of Managing Stress and Unlocking Happiness’ on October 18 under ‘Shape the Mind Programme’. Dr Gurbir Singh, Assistant Professor at IIM Amritsar, acted as the resource person. He offered valuable insights into the physiological and psychological aspects of stress. During his presentation, he posed thought-provoking questions about the nature of true happiness and explained how our evolving goals shape our sense of well-being. He introduced the concept of upward and downward counterfactual thinking. He emphasised that while we often pursue happiness through money, this approach provides only a limited sense of control over our lives. Dr Singh also discussed the significant impact of social media on our happiness, noting that its constant exposure to curated lifestyles and opinions can pressure us to seek validation and approval from others. This pursuit can lead to a cycle of comparison, ultimately detracting from our own fulfillment. He shed light on the challenges of finding happiness in today’s world, providing participants with practical tips to improve their mental well-being. By sharing his life experiences, he made an effort to make students reflect on the importance of prioritising their happiness amidst external pressures. This engaging session equipped the students with invaluable knowledge and inspired them to take proactive steps towards achieving lasting well-being.
Arya college
The students of NSS unit of Arya College girls section participated in ‘Green Utsav’ organised under RRR project of Government of India initiated by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana under the name of ‘Daan Utsav’. The students participated zealously in poster-making and showcased their talent by making beautiful posters conveying the message of ‘Clean water and sanitation’. The college also received an appreciation certificate by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, for active participation in the donation drive. Dr SM Sharma, Secretary, ACMC, appreciated the initiative and urged the students to contribute to this noble cause. Principal Dr Suksham Ahluwalia and in-charge Dr Mamta Kohli extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students for their exceptional contribution in the do.
Sri harkrishan sahib school
Students of Sri Harkrishan Sahib Public Senior Secondary School, Daba Road, Ludhiana, participated in the 25th annual GS Memorial Competitions at Jesus’ Sacred Heart School, South City, Ludhiana, competing against 50 schools and 5,000 students. The school secured the Overall First Runners-Up Trophy with impressive wins in events like Yarn Heaven, Cinema Steps and Health Horizon. They were also placed in Story Book, Fashion Flashback, Recycle Challenge, and more. Director Ramandeep Singh Sehgal and Principal Poonam Sharma congratulated the students and staff, emphasising the importance of co-curricular activities and expressing pride in their achievements.
Ryan International school
Ryan International School organised a workshop ‘One-Stop Solution for All Your Wealth Creation Needs’, Class 11 and 12 students gained insights into essential financial topics such as Mutual Funds, health insurance, life insurance, bonds and the stock market. The session was led by experts Nipun Thapar, a Wealth Manager, and Ramesh Singh, Branch Manager. After an engaging presentation, a Q&A session addressed students’ queries, making the workshop highly interactive and informative.
Police DAV public school
Police DAV Public School hosted a comprehensive seminar on winter skincare for Class VI students, led by school health expert Dr Tasween Kaur, emphasising the holistic well-being of all students. Dr Tasween Kaur shared her expert tips on cleansing, toning and moisturising, stressing the importance of seasonal fruits, vegetables and calcium-rich food for healthy skin. She said that every student should take care of their skin. Principal Dr Anu Verma commended the initiative, stating, “We’re committed to our students’ overall well-being, and Dr Tasween Kaur’s seminar provided invaluable guidance.” The interactive session empowered students with essential skincare knowledge.
