Campus notes: Arya College for Girls

Ludhiana: The Political Science Department of Arya College for Girls organised a programme to celebrate Constitution Day. A PowerPoint presentation on ‘Making of Samvidhan’ was shown to students, and they were made to recite the Preamble. The purpose of the programme was to acquaint the students with the ideals of the Indian Constitution. Students also took a pledge to fulfill their duties as responsible citizens and cherish their rights. Dr SM Sharma, Secretary, ACMC, praised the initiative of the department to disseminate knowledge about the Indian Constitution. Principal Dr Suksham Ahluwalia motivated students to follow ideals enshrined in the Constitution. In-charge Dr Mamta Kohli said the Constitution was the supreme law of the land and must be respected by all citizens.

BCM College

The NSS Wing of the BCM College, in collaboration with the Social Science Club, observed Constitution Day to mark the adoption of the Constitution of India. Nikhil, a student of BEd Sem I, presented an insightful PowerPoint presentation, while Diksha shared her views on the historical perspective of this special day. Ritika recited a thought-provoking poem, highlighting the relevance of the day. Ayush conducted the pledge-taking ceremony in which students and faculty members took a pledge to reaffirm their commitment to the principles that bind the diverse fabrics of India. Assistant Professor Shilpa Kaura coordinated the event.

Police DAV Public School

Police DAV Public School, Ludhiana, celebrated Constitution Day and Law Day on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and reverence, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution on this day in 1949. There was a special assembly for Class VIII where the students recited the Preamble of the Constitution, reaffirming their commitment to its ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. This was followed by an engaging open quiz session that tested the students’ knowledge about the Indian Constitution with the help of a PowerPoint presentation that highlighted the significance of the Constitution in upholding democratic values. The highlight of the celebration was an exhibition titled “Legal Beacon: Shining the Light on Your Legal Rights”.

Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative School

Lakshya Bansal, a student from Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School, clinched the gold medal at the KIO Federation Cup Karate Championship. The prestigious event was organised by the Karate India Organisation and took place from November 19 to 23 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Lakshya Bansal’s outstanding performance and dedication have brought glory to the school. His victory is a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and talent. The Drishti family applaud his exceptional skills and commendable spirit that led him to this well-deserved triumph.

HVM Convent Sr Sec School

HVM Convent Senior Secondary School, Karamsar Colony, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, organised a bagless day activity, fostering creativity, hands-on learning and a joyful break from routine academics for tiny tots of foundational stage. The activity aimed to reduce academic pressure, foster holistic development and allow students to learn in a more relaxed and interactive environment. School president DP Sharma, chairman Dilbag Singh, management members and Principal said, "This activity provided children an opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills and enjoy a day of learning without the stress of books."

Malwa Central College

Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana, organised a declamation contest to commemorate Constitution Day, which marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949. The contest aimed at educating students about the importance of the Constitution and exploring its key provisions. Dimpy Bansal, Gurkirat, and Nancy won the first, second, and third positions, respectively. Nabum hosted the event. The event concluded with a brief interactive session, wherein students asked questions and discussed how they could contribute to upholding values of the Constitution in their lives. Dr Gurmit Singh talked about various articles mentioned in the Constitution and Dr Tripta extended the vote of thanks. Principal Dr Satwant Kaur appreciated efforts and hard work of students and teachers.

BCM School, Basant City

BCM School, Basant City, Pakhowal Road, secured the second position in the Inter-BCM Folk Dance Competition held at BCM School, Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. Students from Classes IX and X, including Khwaish, Dharna, Akshara, Tanvi, Mandeep and Jasmeen, showcased a mesmerising performance that highlighted the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Punjab. Their graceful moves and synchronisation won hearts of judges and the audience alike. Principal Nidhi Jain congratulated participants on their achievement and commended their dedication and enthusiasm.
