The Bharti Kisan Union (Lakhowal) today held its monthly meeting during which range of issues pertaining to farmers and society were discussed.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Harinder Singh Lakhowal, BKU president, at the union head office in Ludhiana. Executive members of the union and the district president participated in the meeting.

The BKU demanded that the state government should stop factories from polluting Buddha Nullah. Giving information about the meeting, Avtar Singh Mehlon said the Central Government made many promises to farmers such giving minimum support price (MSP) for all crops. The Centre also promised to make a guarantee law, he said, while adding that it had now completely reneged on its assurance because the government had become a broker of big corporate houses and capitalists, he said.
