Biker dies after being dragged for 200m by speeding vehicle
A video of a road accident on Samrala Road in Khanna surfaced on Sunday. The accident occurred on Saturday night in which a speeding Jeep Wrangler Rubicon vehicle killed a motorcyclist. The car dragged the person along with the bike for about 200m. The bike rider died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Gurpreet Singh Jaggi (30), a resident of Bagli Kalan.
According to information, Gurpreet Singh was a mason. He had two daughters, a two-year-old girl and the second daughter born three days ago. Gurpreet’s wife was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Khanna.
Late on Saturday night, he was returning from work on his bike and going to the Civil Hospital to meet his wife and daughter when the speeding vehicle going from Khanna to Samrala hit him near the petrol pump at Saloudi village.
The deceased’s brother, Laddi Singh, said the Rubicon vehicle was being driven at a speed of above 100 kmph. While overtaking, the vehicle first hit a truck and then dragged his brother along with the bike. Airbags of the vehicle also opened due to the high speed.
Sadar Khanna SHO Sukhwinderpal Singh said the police reached the scene and took the vehicle into their custody. A case was registered against its driver after recording statements of family members of the deceased. After a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to his kin.
