As the traffic police continued ban on the vehicular movement in Chaura Bazaar, one of the busy markets, on Saturday, the bazaar witnessed no unwanted traffic jams. The traffic police installed barricades at the entrance of the market and even at some other entry points around the market to prevent entry of vehicles. Only rush of pedestrians was seen in the market.

Notably, the traffic police have started the initiative of preventing vehicular traffic in Chaura Bazaar after receiving complaints of traffic jams and wrong parking violations in the market, especially on Saturday and Sunday.

Commuters used to get stuck in the market for hours due to the same. The traffic police after conducting a trial run last week have decided to continue the initiative on every Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, during a survey in the market, no traffic jam was observed in the bazaar as only pedestrians were roaming. Some random vehicles were seen inside the market, which reportedly came from some nearby markets but police officials stopped vehicle owners and issued them warning.

A traffic police official deployed outside the market said though there was a complete ban on any vehicle in the market, the police adopt lenient approach towards vehicles carrying physically challenged people.

ACP (Traffic) Jatin Bansal is the brainchild behind the initiative.
