Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Supply and Sanitation, Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Mundian today reached Doraha to express his best wishes to the residents. Many, however, offended by what they termed a fruitless visits of the leaders on festive occasions, preferred to stay back and celebrate with the family.

Mundian was accompanied by the local MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura; Ramandeep Kaur, Chairman of Punjab Jenco Limited Navjot Singh Jarg; Sudarshan Kumar Pappu, council chief; Gurdarshan Singh Koohli, Bobby Tiwari, Bobby Kapila, Rahul Bector, Buta Singh and Payal DSP Deepak Rai.

Meanwhile, many residents refused to attend the festivities at the Dasehra ground out of resentment for the leaders who they believe, come to appease the public and hold no substance in their words. They together expressed the visit of these leaders on such festive occasions held no importance at all. “The promises made with the residents on these occasions are nothing but mere bundle of lies. Two years back Bhagwant Mann’s wife, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, attended the Dasehra celebrations at Doraha and assured the residents of an early resolution of the problem of lack of basic amenities in the town. Nothing changed for the better, rather the things have worsened all the more. The condition of the railway road is simply deplorable and not a single soul passes without cursing the existing government and its functioning. The sewerage has failed and the water treatment plant is nowhere to be found,” a resident of Ward 6 rued.
