Anganwadi workers, in large numbers, on Monday protested against the alleged stepmotherly of the Centre and state government treatment towards Anganwadi centres.

The protest was held under the leadership of Subhash Rani, president, Anganwadi Mulazam Union, Ludhiana. The workers said in 2017, the state government had decided to connect children aged between three to six years to government primary schools due to which the services being given to the poor and needy children by the anganwadi centres were being affected and no nutritional food was given to them.

On November 14, when Children’s Day will be celebrated, the workers will seek an explanation from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in this regard and on November 18, they will gherao Cabinet Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on the issue.
