57 +ve; one death in dist

Ludhiana, December 20
One person lost his life to coronavirus, while 57 tested positive for it in Ludhiana district today.
The total positive cases in the district reached 24,379 and the death toll has gone up to 949. Now, there are 642 active cases in the district. On Sunday, 106 persons were sent for home quarantine.
The person who lost his life today was a 78-year-old man, a resident of Barewala Awana. He was a patient of hypertension and was admitted to SPS Hospital.
Out of the total persons who tested positive, 14 were contacts of positive people, 13 were referred from the OPDs, 22 were referred from the flu corner, while the tracing of eight was on.
Out of the total who tested positive, 21,662 belonged to Ludhiana city and the remaining were from peripheral areas. Out of the total deaths reported from the district, 826 belonged to Ludhiana city, while the remaining were from peripheral areas of Jagraon, Samrala, Payal, Raikot and Khanna.
Today, 10 patients were on ventilator support, out of whom, eight belonged to other districts, while two are from Ludhiana district.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said it was being observed that many people wear masks but don’t cover their nose, which makes no sense. Everyone should wear mask in such a way that it snugly covers the mouth and nose, only then Covid can be prevented.
He appealed to people to follow all guidelines regarding Covid.
