30 cases of illict liquor seized, one arrested

The Police Division Number 5 have registered a case under various sections of the Excise Act against two persons, Sandeep Singh and Gurjeet Singh (Jeeta). After getting a tip-off, the police stopped two persons in a Hyundai Verna car on suspicion near Gurmohar Hotel.

The police seized 30 cases of illicit countrymade liquor from their possession. One of the suspects was nabbed while the other managed to escape.

In another incident, the Police Division 5 arrested a woman, Harpreet Kaur, a resident of Manjit Nagar, here, for carrying 10 gm of heroin. The police said during patrolling on Wednesday, the police stopped a woman coming from the Manjit Nagar side on suspicion and seized 10 gm of heroin from her. The drug was kept in a ladies purse.
