3 nabbed for snatching woman cop’s gold chain

Three scooter-borne miscreants targeted a woman constable and snatched her gold mangalsutra. After the incident, the police swung into action and caught the three suspects. CCTV cameras had also captured the incident, the footage of which went viral on social media.

The constable, Sarabjit Kaur, posted at the Police Lines, was returning home on a scooter after duty on October 28. She was in civil dress. When she reached Tagore Nagar, the miscreants snatched her gold mangalsutra.

As the trio tried to snatch her chain, the victim lost balance over the vehicle and fell on the road. following which, the miscreants snatched her mangalsutra and fled the scene. After the incident, the constable gave a written complaint at the Division Number 8 police station.

The SHO, Inspector Balwinder Kaur, said after getiing a complaint, a probe was launched and the three suspects were arrested on Thursday. The police seized sharp weapons from them. The looted mangalsutra was also recovered. The suspects were also produced in a court and a two-day police remand of the trio was granted by the court.

The suspects were identified as Ravinder, alias Ravi, Sarabjit Singh and Jaspreet Singh, all residents of Ludhiana. They had a criminal background as some cases were already registered against them in the past.
