3 deaths; 106 +ve in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, March 4
Three persons lost their lives, while 106 tested positive for Covid in the district today. Now, the total confirmed cases in the district have gone to 27,473, while the death toll has gone up to 1,034.
Out of the total 106 people who tested positive today, five were teachers and one a healthcare worker. The healthcare worker is a staff nurse in a private hospital. A teacher from Government High School Chak Maafi Khanna Maanupur, one teacher from Government Senior Secondary School Godderwindi Jagraon, two teachers from Edusquare Dugri and a teacher from Joseph Senior Secondary School Dugri Dhandra Road tested positive for the virus.
Those who lost their lives today were a 55-year-old male, a 66-year-old female and a 78-year-old male and belong to Janetpura village, Dashmesh Nagar and Maachian Khurd, respectively. One patient had the co-morbidity of diabetes and one was asthmatic.
Today, the number of active patients reached 689, while 161 were home quarantined. In addition, nine patients were on the ventilator support, out of which six belong to Ludhiana and three to other districts.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said whenever the district administration and the health department find out about any positive or suspected Covid person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. A total of 6,80,033 samples have been collected in the district so far and the reports of 1,280 are pending.
Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the government on Covid protocol for everyons’s safety.
