25 Uttarakhand fish farmers visit vet varsity to learn new tech
The College of Fisheries (CoF), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, organised a three-day capacity-building programme for a group of 25 farmers, including seven women entrepreneurs, from Haridwar, under an Uttarakhand state-sponsored programme, which was coordinated by Haridwar Senior Fisheries Officer Jaiprakash Bhaskar. Dr Vaneet Inder Kaur, programme coordinator, said the training was tailored to upgrade the farmers’ knowledge base.
She said the trainees were apprised of new technologies and innovations in various aquaculture practices and systems, with special reference to carp polyculture, pangas catfish culture, freshwater prawn culture, ornamental fish culture, breeding, and seed production; fish feed formulation and manufacturing.
Exposure visits were organised to farms of progressive farmers and the modern fish market of Ludhiana for real-time interaction and experience sharing among the farmers and stakeholders.
