“The viscera report is still pending and the police can act only on the basis of the report. We have to wait for the arrival of the report before taking action in the case. A case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered against the suspects ,” SI Harmeet Singh said.
Parminder Kaur, a resident of Dhillon Nagar, Lohara, has alleged that her son Harshdeep Singh, alias Harry, was taken along by Mohit Verma, a resident of Lohara, and Akash Dogra and his brother, both residents of Jodhan, and given drug overdose on the night of May 5. The next day, she found her son in an unconscious state. She took him to a local hospital where he breathed his last. Parminder Kaur alleged that her son was badly tortured by the trio and ever since she had been submitting complaints to the police for the registration of a case against the suspects. Initially, a case under Section 174 of the CrPC was registered by the Sahnewal police after his death.
“I have no support of my husband since he is not staying with us. My younger son and I are staying together. Now, I am getting threats from the suspects to withdraw the statement but I will not sit back till justice is granted. I even contacted the local MLA but to no avail,” the hapless mother asserted. “Only a mother can understand the loss of a young child. I just want justice for the death of my son,” she said.
SI Harmeet Singh said a case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered against the suspects.
“The viscera report is still pending and the police can act only on the basis of the report. We have to wait for the arrival of the report before taking action in the case,” the SI said.
