2 of vehicle thieves’ gang nabbed in Ludhiana
The Daresi police claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle thieves and arrested two of its members. The police seized four Honda Activa scooters and one motorcycle from their possession.
The suspects have been identified as Chand (30), a resident of Pritam Nagar, and Parkash Kumar (35), a resident of Jassian.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Davinder Kumar Chaudhary and SHO, Daresi, inspector Avtar Singh, issued a statement in this regard.
The ACP said the police had received a tip-off that a gang of vehicle thieves was active in the city and it committed several thefts. After getting information about the location of the suspects, the police team conducted a raid at their suspected whereabouts on Thursday night and arrested the duo.
Questioning of the suspects also led to the recovery of five stolen vehicles.
The ACP said police remand of the suspects was also obtained and their role in past vehicle theft incidents would be probed and more members of the gang would be arrested.
Police officials said some of the stolen vehicles were also sold by them to some junk dealers and action against the latter would also be taken as per law.
Both suspects had a criminal history as Chand is facing two cases registered against him in the past by the Ludhiana police and Parkash is also facing one case registered against him in the city.
