A resident of Shingar Road has been booked for duping a man of Rs 50 lakh and valuables in the name of opening a software company and investing in it.

The accused has been identified as Rohan Bhatia. Complainant Babneet Kaur, daughter of the victim, of Chandigarh Road told the police that the accused took Rs 50 lakh an AC, LED, two laptops, two Apple Macbook and a Chinese phone from her father for opening a software company. Later, when she demanded the money and goods, he started making excuses.

The daughter of the victim alleged that when she demanded the money and goods, the accused made her drink some intoxicating substance and clicked her objectionable photographs and began blackmailing her.

The accused also threatened to make the photos viral on social media and kill her family members, she added. The police have registered a case in this regard.
