Following this, the MC chief inspected different static sites in the city, including those situated at the Cheema chowk and scooter market in Model Town, near Pavilion Mall.

He also inspected mechanical sweeping and cleanliness on main roads of the city.

Meanwhile, Rishi appealed to residents to support the authorities in improving solid waste management in the city. They had been urged to hand over segregated dry and wet waste to waste collectors and wherever possible, the residents should turn the wet waste into compost in their respective houses.

He said the MC was taking many initiatives to process solid waste generated in the city but it could only be acheived with the support of residents. Joint Commissioners/Zonal Commissioners had been directed to regularly monitor the situation in their respective zones and he would also be conducting surprise inspections to ensure waste segregation in coming days too.
