Ludhiana, August 5

A body of a woman has been found in the fields at Gill village. The woman was murdered by slitting her throat. After passersby saw the body yesterday night near the railway tracks, they immediately raised an alarm and informed the police.

The cops from the Sadar police station reached the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary at the civil hospital here for a post-mortem examination.

The police have got some vital clues about the woman's murder. Some suspects have been rounded up for questioning. The case would be solved and the suspects sent behind bars. Harshveer Singh, SHO, Sadar police station

The deceased woman was identified as 33-year-old Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Mundian Kalan. Initial investigation by the police revealed that the woman’s throat was slit with a sharp weapon. Her body also bore some injury marks.

After identifying the deceased, the police informed her family members. Based on the statement of the family members, the police registered a case of murder against unknown persons in this connection.

According to victim’s father Shamsher Singh, his daughter was a divorcee, who also had a 14-year-old daughter. She used to attend satsang at a gurdwara in Model Town every week. On Sunday around 10 am, she went to the gurdwara on her Activa scooter to pay obeisance. When she did not return, her mother called her around

2 pm. When her phone was found switched off, the victim’s mother informed her father and the family started searching for her.

Later, her body was recovered on Sunday night. The police managed to identify the body with the help of the registration certificate (RC) of scooter found near the fields.

The victim’s family members said the police had already arrested a suspect. They said the police didn’t reveal the cause behind murder and identity of the suspect.

Inspector Harshveer Singh, SHO, Sadar police station, said the police had got some vital clues about woman’s murder. He said some suspects were rounded up for questioning. He said the case would be solved soon and the suspects sent behind bars.
