Lovely Professional University win kabaddi championship
Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted the North-Zone Inter-University Kabaddi (Men) Tournament at its campus here. This four-day mega event witnessed participation from 61 teams and over 700 plus players, accompanied by their coaches, from institutions across the northern region of India.
The tournament concluded with the team from LPU emerging as the champions, securing the gold medal with a significant margin. Punjabi University, Patiala, claimed the silver medal, while Guru Kashi University earned the bronze medal. LPU’s Nikesh emerged as the est Defender’, while Puneet from GKU earned the ‘Best Raider’ title.
Lovi Raj Gupta, pro vice-chancellor of LPU, who was the chief guest, congratulated the winners, participants and their coaches, acknowledging their critical role in nurturing the players’ skills and sportsmanship. Gupta stated, “LPU shall continue to support initiatives that inspire young talent and elevate the spirit of sportsmanship across the region.”
He encouraged the winning teams to prepare for the challenges at the national level and emphasised the importance of maintaining mental and physical balance for long-term success in sports.
