Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has condemned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for allegedly attempting to undermine Sikh heritage by renaming the historic Katra Ahluwalia Chowk to “Jalebi Wala Chowk” in Amritsar.

Bajwa asked the AAP government to issue an apology and promptly restore the Chowk’s original name, preserving the honour of Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, a revered Sikh leader of the 18th century. He said Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was not only the Supreme Commander of the Dal Khalsa, but he also served as the Jathedar of Akal Takht.
