Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, called on the Delhi Government to table 12 pending reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) during a special Assembly session.

In a letter to CM Atishi, Gupta expressed concern over the delay in presenting these reports, which have been pending with the Finance Minister.

“These reports are essential for assessing the financial and administrative conditions of our government,” Gupta stated.

He highlighted that the CAG reports are mandated to be presented in the Assembly under Article 151 of the National Capital Territory of Delhi Government Act, 1991. Accusing the government of deliberately withholding these documents, Gupta remarked, “In a democratic system, transparency is crucial. The government’s failure to present these reports is an attempt to conceal its corrupt practices.”

Gupta emphasised the need for a session to address these issues, insisting that it should include a Question Hour, which has not been held in 2024. “It’s a shameful violation of the constitutional rights of the people’s representatives,” he said.

Gupta warned if the government continues to ignore the presentation of the CAG reports, the BJP legislative group would seek legal action.
