Delhi’s Leader of Opposition (LoP), Vijender Gupta, sharply criticised Chief Minister Atishi’s recent statements about her willingness to work on the streets. Gupta accused the AAP ministers and leaders of orchestrating daily “dramas” under the direction of their boss, Arvind Kejriwal.

“Every night, they prepare a script for the next day’s drama, and now, the scriptwriter is the ‘dummy’ Chief Minister Atishi,” Gupta remarked. He called her claims absurd, pointing out that despite Rs 87 crore being spent on renovating the Chief Minister’s office, Atishi insists she prefers to work on the streets.

Gupta dismissed Atishi’s assertion as a publicity stunt. “First, she pretended to work as the ‘dummy’ CM with an empty chair for Kejriwal, then occupied Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’, and now, she claims she’s ready to work on the streets,” he said, questioning whether Atishi is the CM of a state or the managing director of a drama company.

He further criticised the extravagant spending of taxpayers’ money, noting that Rs 87 crore was used to lavishly decorate the CM’s office, making it more luxurious than seven-star hotels, while Rs 50 crore was spent on Kejriwal’s residence. “If that Rs 87 crore had been used for road repairs, the streets of Delhi would be in much better condition,” Gupta asserted.

Gupta condemned AAP for prioritising its political interests over the public’s needs, emphasising that the party’s extravagant spending highlights its disregard for the issues facing residents. “The people of Delhi will soon respond by removing AAP from power,” he predicted.

Adding to his critique, Gupta labelled a recent video shared by the AAP on social media as a “blatant lie”. The video credited the Delhi Government for beautification projects in Dwarka, which, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) clarified, were not completed by the state government, but were undertaken by the Central Government. “This is the height of lies by the AAP,” Gupta stated. “It’s shameful that they would claim credit for the Central Government’s development work.”
