India has carried out the maiden flight-test of a new missile called the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). The missile has the capability to launch from a military truck and is also configured to launch from Navy warships.

It can travel up to 1,000 km to hit targets on land. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the test of LRLACM from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today.

During the test, all sub-systems performed as per expectations and met the primary mission objectives, the ministry added. The missile followed the desired path using way point navigation and demonstrated its capability to perform various manoeuvres while flying at various altitudes and speeds.
