Local leaders ramp up support for by-election candidates ahead of polling
Local and regional leaders, including councillors and sarpanches from various political parties, are leaving no stone unturned in making their presence felt ahead of the by-election polling, scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
In addition to visiting localities within the Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidderbaha and Barnala assembly constituencies, party office-bearers and activists are reaching out to their friends and relatives, encouraging them to support their candidates in these key areas.
Ashok Verma and Surjit Gogna, senior BJP leaders, have been making short trips to Barnala and Gidderbaha to support the party’s candidates, Kewal Singh Dhillon and Manpreet Singh Badal. “In addition to attending campaign events, we have been reaching out to friends and relatives in Barnala and Gidderbaha, urging them to support our candidates,” said Ashok Verma.
The Ahmedgarh Municipal Council President said separate teams of activists have been set up to attend events and manage campaign activities across all four constituencies. He said, “We have been working closely with legislators Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra and Dr Mohammad Jamil Ur Rehman, who are guiding our visits to the constituencies where the by-election is taking place.”
Prabhdeep Singh Grewal, political secretary to Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh Boparai, said subdivision and block-level Congress leaders from Ahmedgarh and Amargarh have mobilised workers to join a rally in Barnala scheduled for Monday.
Block president of Congress, Deepak Sharma and former municipal council president Vikas Krishan Tandon have organised meetings in their respective wards to finalise preparations for the rally in Barnala. — OC
