Local artistes to get their due: Dy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said the state government had decided to dedicate one night in all fairs and festivals to local artistes to encourage them.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the first cultural evening of the state-level Sair Mela Arki-2024 at Arki, Agnihotri said, “The state government has also decided to spend 50 per cent of the total amount in cultural programmes on the artistes of Himachal Pradesh. Efforts are also being made to ensure that all the performances in these events are live,” he stated.
Agnihotri announced to make the historic Badidhar fair of the Arki subdivision a district-level fair. He said after sending to an expert panel the proposal on setting up a ropeway in Badidhar, a detailed project report will be prepared and the matter will be taken up at the appropriate level.
The Deputy CM stated that an ambitious potable water project from Gambhar khud for the Arki Assembly constituency and a bus station at Arki will be dedicated to people soon.
Congratulating people, he expressed hope that the Saiar Utsav will spread happiness and prosperity in everyone’s life. “The rich tradition of Sair Utsav Arki is exemplary,” he stated.
Elaborating upon the government endeavours, he said the education and health sectors were being given the highest priority in the Arki Assembly constituency. Postgraduate classes in English and History have been started in Government College, Arki. “Specialist doctors have been appointed in the Regional Hospital, Arki, to provide better medical facilities to the people near their homes,” he added.
