According to his colleague Prof YK Dogra, the passing away of Dr Pratyush Guleri has caused an irreparable loss to Himachal’s literary initiatives. He was born on June 9, 1947, to Kirtidhar Sharma Guleri and Satyavati in Guler, Kangra district. After doing his doctorate in Hindi literature, Dr Guleri served on many academic positions. He remained the head of Hindi Department at Government College, Dharamsala.

He edited ‘Ramras Lahari’, ‘Nitishatak’ and ‘Mangalashatak’, research thesis on the writings and poetry of Guler’s Rajkavi Brijraj. He also had to his name scores of stories published by the National Book Trust like ‘Guler ka Raja Harichand’, ‘Aadhi Poonch Wala Rakshasa’ and ‘Sapno ka Bharat’. His Hindi publications include ‘Smriti’, a story collection.
